You’ve got the idea, the vision and the drive. What you haven’t got is a clue what a tech pack should look like, why your sample doesn’t fit or what you’re supposed to say to your factory. And that’s completely normal. Most denim brand founders don’t come from a technical background, so it’s easy to feel out of your depth and unsure what to do next. I help fashion startups and independent brands with everything from tech packs and fit to sampling and production, so you can make decisions with confidence and actually enjoy building your brand.
The technical stuff doesn’t have to be so confusing
When your factory is not telepathic: TECH PACKS
Your factory can’t see the jeans in your head, so your tech pack needs to do the talking. I’ll help you turn your ideas into clear technical information they can actually work from, covering everything from measurements and construction to denim, trims and wash. And I’ll make sure you understand what’s in there too, so you’re not left nodding along and hoping for the best.

I plan how it’ll all be put together, from stitching and seams to rivets and pockets, so we get ahead of any hiccups before your factory starts sewing.

We work out who your customer is and how your jeans should fit. Then I create a detailed size spec for your factory to follow, built from your own block or from scratch. Grading is planned from the start, but only finalised once your sample size fit is signed off, so you’re not locking in problems across the whole range.

A clear guide showing every point of measure and exactly where to take it, so you, me and your factory are all measuring the same way.

Once I’ve reviewed your design, I’ll come back with a list of questions and we’ll go through them on a call before I start building your tech pack. When it’s finished, we’ll go through it together so you understand everything in it and can make any changes.

I build tech packs in Excel, so they can be updated throughout your product’s development and you’re not juggling a million new files. There are pages for all your fit comments and formulas for any new measurements to carry through to the next sample.
When there’s cracks in your foundations:
BLOCKS & GRADING
If every new pair of jeans feels like starting from scratch, different washes are fitting differently or the same problems keep popping up across your range, there’s probably something bigger going on.
I’ll look at your blocks, grading, tolerances and fit processes and help you get the fundamentals sorted, so you’ve got a solid foundation to develop from instead of reinventing your jeans every season.

Checking your grades across your size range properly, benchmarking them against your competitors and a clear understanding of your target customer so the fit is consistent from your smallest size to your biggest.

No factory can make every pair of jeans exactly the same, which is where tolerances come in. Every point of measure should have one, and I’ll review yours to make sure they’re realistic and commercial (or create them if they don’t exist!)

I loooove figuring out how things work and whether there’s a smarter, cheaper way to do them, especially when it comes to cutting down on sampling. I’ll look at the steps you’re taking now, spot where things are falling down, and help you build a plan to make it all run more smoothly.
When the fit is NOT fire:
FITS & RETURNS
The waist is gaping, they slip down when you sit and you just can’t get them to hang right. Or they look great on the hanger, but customers keep sending them back and your return rates are eating into your profits.
You know something’s not quite right, but knowing why it’s happening and what needs changing is another story. I’ll get to the bottom of what’s throwing your fit off, whether that’s from a sample on a fit model or your customers’ return reasons and reviews, and turn “something looks weird” into clear corrections your factory can actually work with.

I can travel fairly easily around London and Essex (Australia, less so). But fits can 100% be done remotely. I’m on very friendly terms with my local couriers and happily take parcels from factories all over the world. For remote fits, I’ll review the sample and write up my comments, then we’ll jump on a video call to go through my thoughts and any styling comments you have.

As part of every fit session, you’ll get clear photos and amendments your factory can action, with marked-up sketches showing the changes so nothing gets lost in translation.

Returns are nearly always a fit problem. I’ll look at your return reasons and customer reviews to work out what’s really going wrong with the fit, and how to fix it in the next production run.
When it’s all gone a bit wonky:
QUALITY & FACTORY COMMS
Your sample was perfect, then bulk arrived with dodgy stitching, the wrong buttons and a wash that’s nothing like you approved. Or you’re stuck in an endless email chain with your factory and nobody seems to be on the same page.
I’ll help you set clear quality standards from the start, keep your factory conversations on track and step in when production goes wrong, so you know what to accept, what to push back on and what to do next.

The worst-case scenario nobody wants to deal with. If your stock has arrived with problems, I’ll help you work out what’s happened, what’s acceptable and how to raise it with your factory, including what you can reasonably ask for. I can also help you look at rework options, so we can see whether it can still be saved and sold.
